How to make wax seals?

Wax seals add elegance and uniqueness to even the simplest stationery items. Besides that, for us, it's a way to relax by creating these perfect wax seals. They combine history, attention to detail, and beauty. Although the process of making a seal is simple, it requires practice and the correct technique to achieve the desired results every time.

First, let's see what elements you need to be able to pour wax seals at home.

 

What do you need to pour seals at home?

If you want everything to go as smoothly as possible from the start, and you want the wax seals to come out perfect, round, and beautiful, I'm listing below the tools you need:

1. Professional low-temperature wax melting gun, with an on/off button - with the help of such a gun, you ensure that you don't overheat the wax and burn it or create bubbles. The on/off button helps a lot because you can turn it on/off very easily, without having to plug/unplug it.

2. Quality wax sticks - if you want to get seals with a beautiful and slightly rubbery texture, with a strong color and without bubbles or other defects, please make sure you use quality wax sticks. These should not contain too much silicone and should not emit smoke or an unpleasant/toxic smell. Make sure the sticks you use do not stick to the brass stamp - these have a high silicone content and are not what you need.

3. Work surface - from our experience, you need a flat, matte work surface, easy to clean, and resistant to high temperatures. We use a granite slab for pouring seals because the workspace is large and allows us to pour 50 seals at once. Other alternatives would be a silicone pad for pouring seals or even a silicone mold for pouring seals.

4. Stamp - in addition to wax sticks, a gun, and a granite slab, you need a brass stamp with your chosen design to create the seals. Make sure the stamp is made of brass. There are other cheaper options that do not offer the same quality when pouring because the wax sticks to the stamp. Here's a TikTok video where you can learn more about quality brass stamps.
